Supporting girls escaping FGM

AMAZONIAN INITIATIVE MOVEMENT (AIM)

A local organization working to end FGM in Sierra Leone. It was formed in 2000 by a group of refugee women. AIM works to promote gender equality and girls education. They believe they can end FGM by empowering women and girls to be able to make their own decisions about their bodies and well-being.

How

Sonder and Beam aims to provide support to girls in a safe house escaping FGM, child marriage and rape by supporting them with their education. Through members fees we will provide girls with the following:

Vagina Museum

There is a penis museum in Iceland. Which is pretty cool. But there is no vagina equivalent anywhere in the world.

We were pretty miffed (muffed?) when we learnt this but we thought, there's only one way to rectify this.  Make one.

The project was launched in 2017 and started with pop ups around the country including exhibitions and events.

How

Sonder and Beam aims to support the museum to educate All about gynaecological anatomy and health, overcome stigma and shame so females can grow in confidence.
